Las Vegas Keeps up with the Times

It seems that once Las Vegas decided to legalize gambling they decided to get very free spirited. “No” became a very popular word within the Las Vegas community. There was no minimum, no cover, no speed limits, no waiting to get married, no sales tax, and no gambling regulations. Times have however changed in some regards to Las Vegas regarding several of these “No” terms. For example, they do now have a speed limit.

Just as most things become more technologically advanced, the same is true with good ‘ol Las Vegas. Games, gambling, and machines undergo constant changes to keep up with the more savvy gamblers. The original slot machines with the pull handle on one side which was referred to as “One arm bandits” have been replaced with more technologically advanced machines.

Blackjack dealers would once use a single deck of cards. These days are long gone and single decks have now been replaced with shoes. The shoes hold several decks of cards. The famous silver dollar is now long gone, replaced with tokens of the same size.

Now, many slot machines will actually accept credit cards. As technology around the world grows, Las Vegas keeps up and looks at new ways to meet the needs of the technology driven world of today.
